This course is approved by the Tertiary Education Commission and the New Zealand Qualifications Authority under the provisions of the Education Act 1989 and Nelson Technical Institute is accredited to teach it.

This is a full time programme which can be completed on average in 40 weeks

NZ2862 Foundation Skills Level 2 - 20 Weeks
Programme hours
8:30 am to 3:00 pm Monday to Thursday, 8:30 am to 12:30pm Friday.

Programme structure
The programme is made up of self paced learning packages including a combination of classroom theory, simulated practical, on site practical and actual work experience.
Entry requirements
Entry requirements for this programme are inline with the Tertiary Educations Commissions Youth Guarantee eligibility criteria. This can be discussed during the applicant interview stage.

How are the applicants selected?
All applicants are interviewed, selection is made on the basis of suitability for the course and motivation.
What will the programme provide you with?
The credits gained on this programme will enable trainees to complete NCFS Level 1 and NCFS Level 2 with all credits going towards gaining NCEA L1 and 2 (awarded by NZQA). The programme structure will enable trainees to follow their chosen career path, gain employment skills and also move into further training.
This course is a must for anyone with no qualifications seeking employment. The programme content is registered on the National Qualifications Framework.
The purpose of this qualification is to provide young people with focused skills, capabilities, knowledge and attributes needed to engage or re-engage with learning, enabling them to operate in familiar, structured environments.
